Cleaning Services: Government Buildings
Cleaning large public facilities is a challenge simply from the standpoint of foot traffic. Some buildings have thousands of visitors each day, bringing extraordinary amounts of dirt and germs into the building. Janitorial companies have to be prepared to not only handle this workload but also to meet a standard of cleanliness that reflects positively on the agency. A facility that does not appear clean and well organized communicates to the public that the agency is apathetic, sloppy and unorganized. This diminishes user confidence and may result in more agitated, distrustful clients who may be more likely to vent these and other negative emotions onto agency employees. Likewise, government personnel may interpret improper cleaning as a sign that facility management is incompetent or non-caring which may in turn raise employee distrust and frustration. There are a myriad of challenges for management officials to deal with on a daily basis in their attempt to keep personnel happy and productive. Preventing cleaning issues from feeding into this process is easy if the commercial cleaning company that is taking care of daily janitorial duties understands the impact of their role on the agency as a whole.
